Speculist Poll
Earlier this week I attempted to publish a poll that asked "How Will the U.S. Power its Cars in the Future?" The poll system I was using redacted several of the choices I put into the poll. This made the poll, in effect, useless. So I pulled it down.
I found another poll system and, with apologies, I'd like to try this again.
I've changed the poll question slightly. I'm now asking "How Will the U.S. Primarily Power Cars in 15 Years?" I predict that in the next decade (or so) we as a country may try many things. This poll question is attempting to get at what you predict will power transportation after things shake out.
EV in the "Full EV's" option stands, of course, for "electric vehicle."
Please explain your answer in the comments.

check out the latest wired mag. Great article on a potential winning model for full EV. Israel, Denmark, and possibly Hawaii may be the first 3 test cases...

15 years is a long time for new technologies to flourish in an environment that encourages growth. However, 15 years isn't much time for the entrenched players to overcome a century of inertia, so they will attempt to hold their advantage by keeping new technologies from making significant impact. Ironically, Big oil's gravy train might have to be converted to biomass fuel in order to repurpose the meaning of a literal gravy train. :)

I went with plug-in hybrid.
Partly the inertia MikeD noted (I think I'm willing to give slightly greater emphasis to the sheer mass of investment the historical model entails), but partly the impact resulting from competition for market share among vehicle producers.
Throw in the almost inevitable impulse to tinker with the economy by .gov types and the change process is virtually certain to be more gradual then the technology alone would require.
