The topics:
- They all wished everyone Happy Father's Day.
- Phil told us about his experience with his new bike rack. With roof mounted bike racks, clearance is an issue. They agreed that there is a difference between self-effacing humor and male bashing.
- The guys talked about the new Iron Man and Incredible Hulk movies.
- Phil's first question about the future was, "Can we predict it?"
- Stephen cheated with his questions about the future. He referred to Michio Kaku's newly published book:
- Michael asks, "Putting aside SENS, do we have other reasons to believe that life extension will become reality?"
Phil mentioned that life expectancy has hit a new high.
- Stephen asks, "Will invisibility be possible?"
They agreed the answer is "yes." We already have meta-materials that are invisible to red light.
Michael points out that robots or UAV's do invisibility one better - manipulating the battlefield without even being there.
- Phil asks "Is there an advantage to having a bleak outlook on the future."
The answer brought out our "Speculist Manifesto." Scroll down at the link.
- Michael asks, "Are we at, or soon to be at peak oil production?"
- Phil asks, "When we will be able to fly?"
Our front bumper is a sample of Marginal Prophets' "The Difficult Song."
Our exit music this week is from Chewy Marble. The song is "Black and White."
