Odd and Ins...

I'm burried under work, but there is some good Speculistic news out there today:

  • A mouse that regrows limbs and organs - and who can pass that ability on to other mice!

  • Think we're running out of oil? The U.S. has more oil than Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately it's locked up in shale deposits. Fortunately we're developing the tech to go get it.

  • I wrote awhile back about the future of energy: "Bigger Than Oil."

  • And don't miss Glenn Reynold's interview of Ray Kurzweil.

Think of the comments as an open thread to discuss this or other news.

Well, in the tradition of LGF...

First!

(Wow, big accomplishment. First comment in a thread on his own blog.)

Oh, come to think of it, I was also first mentioning the Reynolds/Kurzweil interview. Maybe I should have been bragging about that...

Hey Phil! I'm looking forward to meeting you at AC05! I'm doing volunteering for the conference, I may score the registration desk near the beginning of the event. You know what I look like - I also know what you look like, thanks to the profile page. Regarding "The Singularity is Near"... note that SIAI can immediately provide you with an early-bird signed copy with your donation of $200 or more! ;)

The practice of claiming Frist! goes back at least six years and back at least to Slashdot. People interested in where things might be going ought to be taking a peek at /. every nonce and a gain.

Good call, triticale. Slashdot is essential reading, no question about it.

LGF is the first blog in which I noticed the practice.

Michael --

Looking forward to meeting you in person! And thanks for the generous book offer. :-)
