Quick Trip to Russia

Chek out this haunting and evocative video.

Via Andrew Sullivan, interestingly enough. I'm not really a big PSB fan (by any stretch of the imagination) but the video put me back in Russia in a way nothing else has in the 12 years since I was last there. I sincerely hoped that it was made up of scenes stolen from some Soviet-era movie (which I could then get my hands on and watch), but no. It's the original work of directors Julian Gibbs, Julian House, and Chris Sayer.

Speaking of Pet Shop Boys, here's a much kitschier video that was very popular in Moscow last time I was there. I like this one, again, not because of the revamped Village People song (shudder) but because of the locales -- some of which longtime Speculist readers may recognize as places that Reuben and Ksenia saw on their date.
