Dealing With That Robot Rebellion Problem
Okay, I've admitted my fear of robotic takeover. Step 2 is to do something about it.
KurzweilAI points to THE book on the subject: How to Survive a Robot Uprising.
How do you spot a robot mimicking a human? How do you recognize and then deactivate a rebel servant robot? How do you escape a murderous “smart” house, or evade a swarm of marauding robotic flies? In this dryly hilarious survival guide, roboticist Daniel H. Wilson teaches worried humans the keys to quashing a robot mutiny.
Obviously this is a book I need to get my hands on. The Pittsburg Post-Gazette has much more.
A tip for telling whether a new acquaintance is a real person or a humanoid robot: "Does your friend smell like a brand-new soccer ball?"
Comments
I, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords.

Here's an idea I hope gets some play. There are all these possible 'end of the world' scenaria. While we can't afford a Space Ark, perhaps it really is time for some secret underground 'arks' where people, information, seed, animals and other starting-over-again resources can be kept as safe as possible. Just in case.
