I Need a Robot...Yesterday
When you find yourself in a tight spot regarding getting a new robot built, and time is of the essence, what can you do?
Well, fortunately, we now have Rapid Robot Prototyping from IBM. The opening is so encouraging, it got my fingers itching to start building a robot:
When you build a robot, one of the critical questions you face early on is what materials to use. I want to spend some time on this question because there are so many options, and there's no reason that you can't get started right away with materials that you probably already have around the house or that you can easily obtain at your local hardware, arts and crafts, or toy and hobby stores.

Perhaps a set of snow-removal robots, one for surfaces (driveways, sidewalks, etc.) and a more-advanced, lightweight climber for trees and powerlines?

Couple "Rapid Robot Prototyping" with the RepRap, and you have self replicating robots.

As long as they look like Grace Park or Tricia Helfer, I think I could be okay with that.
