President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld have received the honor of having slime mold beetles named after them. The newly discovered beetles now have the official names "A. bushi Miller and Wheeler," "A. cheneyi Miller and Wheeler," and "A. rumsfeldi Miller and Wheeler."

The funniest part of this is that these etomologists, Miller and Wheeler, did this out of sincere admiration.

We admire these leaders as fellow citizens who have the courage of their convictions and are willing to do the very difficult and unpopular work of living up to principles of freedom and democracy rather than accepting the expedient or popular.

I guess the left doesn't have a complete lock on academia.

I wonder whether the President will appreciate having a slime mold beetle named after him. He'll probably laugh when he finds out. And it could have be worse - it could have been the slime mold named for him.

These beetles aren't slime, they just have to work with slime.
