This was quite a weekend for farewells. I cried watching Agassi's last competitive match...I haven't shed any tears for the Crocodile Hunter,yet,still too shocked, I think...

Very sad. He was obviously a good guy. You get the feeling watching him that he was an anti-celebrity. If you met him on the street (or out in the bush) that he'd give you the time of day.

But the sadness is mixed. He did take unnecessary chances. No big deal - an important part of his shtick - but that thing with his baby a couple of years ago; that lost me. I don't care what he or the local child welfare people said, his baby was put in danger by that stunt.

The weird part is the animal that killed him. He's handled the world's most poisonous snakes, komodo dragons, bull elephants, hippos, rhinos, and untold numbers of crocks - only to be killed by a stingray. Wow, that's like death by squirrel.

I've swam with sting rays. The ones I swam with were very docile. Freak accident. It's superstitious to say so, but it looks like his number was up.

Anyone shed any Crocodile tears for him?
